NEW ZEALAND’S NATIONAL LAMB DAY WELCOMES FMG AND RABOBANK AS PRINCIPAL PARTNERS FOR 2025

National Lamb Day, the annual celebration honouring New Zealand’s proud heritage of lamb production, is set to receive a significant boost in 2025 with leading rural insurer FMG and specialist food and agribusiness bank Rabobank joining as principal partners. Once again, Ag Proud and Beef + Lamb New Zealand will lead the campaign, reinforcing the day’s importance to both New Zealand’s history and its agricultural sector.

Jon Pemberton, chair of the National Lamb Day committee, was pleased to welcome two iconic agricultural brands to the help amplify the celebrations. “We’re thrilled to welcome both FMG and Rabobank as principal partners for National Lamb Day 2025.”

“Their support brings tremendous value to this celebration of New Zealand’s proud agricultural heritage. National Lamb Day is about honouring our farmers and food producers, and having Rabobank and FMG on board strengthens our ability to highlight the legacy and future of New Zealand lamb. We look forward to an exciting campaign that inspires Kiwis across the country to come together and raise a chop to an industry that has played such a significant role in our national prosperity.”

Marking the anniversary of the first frozen lamb shipment on February 15, 1882, National Lamb Day celebrates New Zealand’s food industry roots, as well as the dedication of today’s farmers and producers.

FMG, a trusted rural insurer committed to the wellbeing of New Zealand’s farming communities, is excited to play a leading role in this year’s National Lamb Day.

“Supporting National Lamb Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to our farming communities, who have shaped and sustained New Zealand’s food industry for generations,” said FMG’s Client Propositions Manager, Karen Williams. “This day is a reminder of the hard work and passion behind every lamb chop and the industry’s significant contribution to our economy and culture.”

Rabobank, New Zealand’s only specialist food and agribusiness bank, is also proud to support the event. Todd Charteris, CEO of Rabobank New Zealand, commented, “National Lamb Day aligns with our commitment to foster a sustainable future for food production in New Zealand. We are delighted to celebrate the Kiwi farmers who produce quality lamb for customers here in New Zealand and around the world, and who help strengthen our agricultural legacy.”
